How Much To Say

I was listening to people talk in line at my local coffee shop. I hadn’t ever seen them there before.  One of them had back pain and was discussing whether they should have surgery. Apparently they have tried pain killers and massage and their doctor recommended against chiropractic.  I really wanted to say, “Try acupuncture,” but I didn’t.   I’ve found myself in this situation before.  I wonder what to do.

I go with my gut and how I’m feeling that day as far as what to say.  I always wonder if I’m interfering when I do say something. I wonder if I’m supposed to be educating this person if I don’t.

I also read posts on blogs about people suffering from various conditions.   These are not health blogs. These come from a different area of my life.  How much should I say in a comment about acupuncture? Sometimes I suggest trying it.  I always offer a contact if they have further questions.  Some people respond and some don’t. I am always uncomfortable when the situation is chronic and I can’t remember what I’ve recommended before!  Do I or don’t I?

What do others do in this situation?
