Last weekend at the seminar I attended, the lecturer pointed out that we are all always running around trying to be the best. We stress ourselves out worrying about this. He reminds us that only one person can be the best. All others are second. So that means there are a lot of people running around trying to be something that won’t ever happen.
Given his work ethic, he isn’t talking about being the best you can be, but rather that constant chasing of external recognition that we are number one. There is only one number one spot. Be okay with being as good as you can be. It may or may not be recognized as number. That doesn’t make it any less worthwhile. It’s certainly a lot easier than chasing that elusive award.
